The 'Charco Azul de Chulilla' route offers an excursion through the beautiful town of Chulilla, unveiling the natural beauty of this region. Charco Azul: A Hidden Oasis
The Charco Azul, a small reservoir formed by the crystalline waters of the Turia River, is the centerpiece of this route. Down by these towering vertical walls that stretch over 100 meters into the sky, this place is like a real oasis. Chulilla, an ancient town dating back to Islamic times, has a rich history that just fits perfectly with the pretty landscapes carved out by the Turia River over centuries.
Your Adventure Begins
Starting this adventure is super easy and it's great for families and all types of hikers, whether you're a newbie or a pro. The 3.6-kilometer circular route leads you through the breathtaking landscape, across picturesque river spots and ultimately to the amazing Charco Azul.
Finding Your Way to this Hidden Gem in the Costa Blanca
Finding this hidden paradise may be a bit challenging, so we wanted to guide you through the journey:
Starting point: Begin your adventure at the Plaza de la Baronía de Chulilla.
Follow the signs: Look for signs indicating the local trail SL-CV 74 leading to Charco Azul.
Descend to Turia Canyon: The initial descent takes you to the bottom of the Turia Canyon, which is a bit steeper. The thrill of the descent is well worth it.
Crossroads: As you make your way, you'll reach a fork in the path. Heading down takes you closer to the river.
Hydroelectric channel: To the right, you'll find a path along the water channel used for hydroelectric energy production further downstream.
Peña Judía: As you continue towards the river, you'll arrive at a small pool next to the Peña Judía. This is a place of great beauty sheltered by a riverside forest.
River crossing: To reach Charco Azul, you'll cross the river on a sturdy wooden walkway. The journey alongside the river is truly picturesque.
Charco Azul: Your destination awaits. The Charco Azul is a small water reservoir set against the backdrop of the Turia Canyon's imposing rock walls.
Circular Route or Quick Visit
You have the option to complete the full 3.6-kilometer circular route, which is highly recommended for a comprehensive experience. But if you'd rather keep it short and sweet, just go down to Charco Azul and come back the way you came, which is a 2-kilometer round-trip.

Such as Ruta de los Calderones or Senda de los Pantaneros. Afterwards you could grab a bite at Goscanos which is the closest restaurant to the parking just at the entrance of the Chulilla town.
